I'm considering getting a desktop with Vista on it, and I currently have XP Pro with JAWS 9.0 on it. Is there a way to determine if my current serial number (406318) is authorized to run Vista?

you can run vista tyler, you have jaws 9 which means you can. the concern was with jaws 8, not everyone had autoration to run vista jaws with 8, but 9 shouldn't be a problem at all

you can run 9 but be aware of the issues that still float around. Also be aware of the resource usage. Since you are a programmer, this is of importance to you.

The comp I'm considering has a 64-bit processor with 2 GB of RAM. The processor speed is 2.83 gHz. Should that be enough to run JAWS 9 on Vista Business without significant resource usage? And what are some of the problems still floating around?

I don't think JAWS will work with a 64
bit processor. If I rememer right, it only works on 32-bit Windows witha 32-bit processor.

JAWS is only concepted for 32 bit systems.

There is no version of Jaws for any 64 bit version of Windows. However, you can run Jaws with any 32 bit version of WindowsXP or Vista on a 64 bit processor, and things will work just fine.
2 gigs of ram is okay; However, it's actually the absolute minimum I would consider for a Vista box. If you have the cash, you might consider taking your ram up to 3 or even 4gigs. But if not, you should be able to live withtwo for the time being.

The processor is an AMD Athlon processor running at 2.83 gHz. I'm not going to be using the machine for torrents--I'm going to use it for e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, Web browsing, MSN, AIM, Skype, and as a Web and FTP server. Any conflicts/problems with this?
